  • Our activities are second to none.  AvonLea’s activities director was nominated for a community hero award, and has helped AvonLea claim top honors for money raised by a corporation for a local charity.  Our residents help with community meals, Southern Belle t-shirt designs and t-shirt sales towards the effort.  The money is used to help families who are fighting against heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

    Residents also have the opportunity to participate in mission trips to a county home for the less fortunate. With the help of AvonLea’s activities director, Shirley Bennett, AvonLea collects clothing, food, toiletries, and seasonal items to give.  AvonLea also sings, paints fingernail, and fellowships with the residents of the county home.

    The AvonLea Informer is a published newsletter which is distributed for the residents, families and friends of AvonLea. The monthly calendar of events is included.  These events consist of outings (mall, Wal-Mart, park, social events, children choirs, crafts, dancing, church services, book reviews, dessert parties, exercise, and fashion shows). 

    AvonLea is well known for their community support and social activities. All events are posted and announced.  Invitations are sometimes printed for special occasions.  AvonLea welcomes families and Tupelo’s senior community to participate in any of its professional seminars.
